\nThe operating band of the ISO 18000 technology operates on a band assigned to the Ministry of Defense. Consequently, the adoption of this technology appears to be limited to prototypal purposes. The operating band of the 13.56 MHz tags is instead free.<\/span><\/p>\n

The decree of the Ministry of Communications of 12 July 2007, thanks to the collaboration of the Ministry of Defense, which uses the UHF band for some radio links for military use, has liberalized the UHF frequencies between 865 and 868 MHz for RFID applications for civil use. The decree allows the installation of devices \u2013 both indoor and outdoor \u2013 with a power of 2 watts, expandable to 4 watts with particular types of antenna. The problem of privacy exists to the extent that the tags contain personal information, without adopting the minimum security measures prescribed by law (hidden identity, access protection, encryption, etc.). Conceptually, a tag is comparable to a USB stick that can be read at short distances, in some cases without a conscious act. If the media is not protected by a password to access the data, if the data contains personal information and if this information is in clear text, the problem of respecting privacy becomes real.<\/span><\/p>\n
